JAVA WEB APPLICATION DEVELOPER - WAKEFIELD

This is a rapidly growing Internet Software Development company, based in a distinctive office block in Wakefield city centre. The company specialises in operational management and business intelligence systems for the manufacturing, distribution and video games industries, focussing on data modelling, processing and reporting along with business process modelling solutions and is seeking a Java Web Application Developer to join a small, professional product development team.

You will be involved in the design, development and support of 'software as a service' products using Java as the primary server-side development language and HTML, JavaScript and CSS on the client side. Relational database design and SQL query building will also play a major part in this role.

Relevant experience is highly valued, however, Initially the role could be a be a more junior one, working with a mentor in the development team, and as such talented graduate and early-career candidates are welcome to apply. There is scope for the right candidate to progress to a more senior position that will involve systems analysis and input into technology strategy for the entire company, and even client-facing requirements gathering if this appeals.

Key Skills and Responsibilities:

A logical, problem-solving mind is essential as is the ability to work within an existing team of developers. Good communications skills are required, particularly where dealing with non-technical colleagues and clients. Java programming experience is required, preferably using JDBC and SQL to manipulate data in an RDBMS. Good HTML, CSS and JavaScript experience will be an advantage along with knowledge of any other web-based technologies such as AJAX, XML, JSON or SOAP.

UNIX/Linux experience will be an advantage along with knowledge and experience of Apache HTTPD, Apache Tomcat and SQL RDBMS.

Essential requirements:

CeMAP qualified (or working towards).

2 years previous experience of working in the mortgage market in a similar role.

Full understanding and use of a mortgage sourcing system such as Trigold.

Knowledge of products and services within the current mortgage market.

Ability to build relationships with consultants and ensure an effective relationship is maintained

Desirable Requirements:

Be able to produce quotes & research from the Exchange system

Intermediate 1st software skills:

Full knowledge of Client Management, Activity Manager

Full knowledge of the workings of the Mortgage Manager module
